Day ticket – FAQ
What rules apply for price category 2?
Price category 2 applies to fare zones A and B, or to fare zones B and C. Please choose the correct fare zones when purchasing a ticket.
Until what time is a day ticket valid?
You may purchase a day ticket at any time. It will be valid until the end of services for that day, which is generally 3 a.m. the following morning. At weekends and on public holidays, services on the VAG transport network even run until 5 a.m. This means that the day ticket is also valid for night services – night supplements may apply.
Are day tickets a more affordable option for groups?
For groups of more than five people or school classes, we recommend a combination of day tickets and single tickets until the desired number of persons is covered. This is generally cheaper than a group ticket.
We recommend booking group tickets for group or class trips with the respective transport service company.Booking a group ticket (in German)
What does a day ticket include?
With a Solo+ or Duo+ Tageskarte, you can bring up to four children, or any number of your own children, between 6 and 14 years of age, free of charge. A group of five children can also travel on one day ticket, which makes them ideal for school trips. Day tickets may also be used by passengers travelling with a dog. The maximum number of dogs that may travel on a day ticket is also four. Bicycles are not included in day tickets.
Upgrading to first class for local rail services is possible by purchasing a second ticket.
Where can you buy a day ticket from?
A day ticket can be purchased up to seven days in advance (as a mobile or online ticket), with a 4% online discount on the price of a day ticket. Day tickets are also available on trams, trains and busses, as well as from RVF ticket machines and ticket offices. Paper tickets must be stamped before boarding the train, tram or bus, either using a machine or by the driver.
